Should the humidity be 49% if I'm using B49 packets in my instrument case?
Not necessarily. B49 Boveda are designed specifically for wooden instruments (and their oftentimes wood-containing cases). The B49 packets achieve and maintain a constant relative humidity (RH) range between 40% and 60%, the industry standard for wooden instruments. This makes B49 packets a little different than our typical formulas which are accurate to +/- 2% RH.
HOW BOVEDA WORKS FOR MUSIC:
-
Always close your case whether your instrument is inside it or not.
-
Boveda starts working immediately, it can take up to two (2) weeks to stabilize to the ideal humidity range of 40-60% in your instrument case.
-
To maximize the lifespan of Boveda, the B49 packs start off at the top of the range in the high 50s.
-
As Boveda releases its moisture, it ends at the bottom of the range in the low 40s.
- Every three (3) months, replace Boveda packets in your instrument case.
- Choose Autoship when you order Boveda. Replacement packets are automatically delivered when it’s time to switch them out. Order once, then enjoy the convenience of no-lapse humidity protection for your instrument.
