Can I use Boveda to rehydrate dry cigars?
Yes. You can try to revive dry cigars as long as their wrappers aren't cracked or peeling. Rehydrating cigars with Boveda takes about a month.
HOW TO REHYDRATE CIGARS USING BOVEDA
- Put cigars in an airtight container, tupperdor, or humidor bag.
- Add Boveda 69% RH packets to rehydrate the cigars. (For every 25 or fewer cigars, use one Boveda Size 60 .)
- In a month, remove a cigar and smoke it.
- If it’s great, congratulations.
- If it burns too hot, keep rehydrating the rest of the cigars for another two (2) weeks.
WHY USE 69% RH PACKS TO REHYDRATE CIGARS?
Cigars lose moisture 4x as fast as they can safely gain moisture. If you use too much moisture too fast, you'll over-hydrate your cigars.
Exposing dry cigars to a stable 69% RH with Boveda minimizes the chance that the wrapper will crack as the filler gains moisture and grows. Nothing good happens quickly with cigars, so be patient.
