How do I calibrate my hygrometer?

A Boveda Hygrometer Calibration Kit is a precise, no-mess,  professional-level salt test. It's the easiest way to make sure your hygrometer is giving you an accurate reading. Calibrate a hygrometer every six months.

HOW TO USE A BOVEDA HYGROMETER CALIBRATION KIT

  1. Place your hygrometer/humidity sensor inside the bag and close the seal.
  2. Let the hygrometer sit in the bag for at least 24 hours at room temperature (65 to 75°F/19.5 to 23.5°C).
  3. Your hygrometer should read 75%. It’s possible that there’s a slight difference—just note it for future readings. If your hygrometer is adjustable, make the adjustment. 

HOW OFTEN DO YOU NEED TO CALIBRATE A HYGROMETER?

  • Calibrate a hygrometer every six months.
  • Calibrate a new hygrometer before you put it in your humidor—even if that new digital hygrometer says it’s been pre-calibrated. 

The preloaded pack is accurate up to three months after its first use. You can reuse the bag for future hygrometer calibrations—just refill it with a new Boveda 75% RH packet.
