When do I replace Boveda in my instrument case?

Boveda B49 (49% RH) packs: replace every 3 months. Boveda B49HA High Absorbency packs: replace every 1 to 3 months.

LIFESPAN OF BOVEDA B49 (49% RH) PACKS:

  • For maximum efficiency, replace every three (3) months. 

  • Although it appears like the pack(s) in your instrument case last longer than three (3) months,  Boveda's efficiency begins to decline over time as the packets take on or lose moisture.

  • In dry climates: if the Boveda packs go dry, your instrument is at risk for cracking and splitting.

  • In humid climates: Boveda doesn't dry out. Instead it reaches maximum capacity.  At this point, Boveda can no longer retain any more moisture nor protect your instrument from swelling or warping.

LIFESPAN OF BOVEDA B49HA HIGH ABSORBENCY PACKS:

  • For maximum efficiency, replace every one (1) to three (3) months.
  • High Absorbency Boveda swells or puffs up when it's fully spent.
